Mission to Malawi, Africa!

March 25, 2025

Myself and my husband Luke, with a team of 7 others, recently made a trip halfway around the world to Malawi, Africa, to visit Adziwa Christian School. The school supports orphaned and widowed families, located in the impoverished village of Kauma. Our “Vision Team” was led by, Emily Wright, neighbor and Franklin non-profit Executive Director of Friends of Adziwa (FOA).

Over the week long trip, our Vision Team met with school board members and management, church administrators, and architects to finalize the envisioned, longterm Campus Master Plan — created by urban planners Erica Guertin and Brian Wright of Franklin based planning firm, TPUDC. The Team came alongside local leaders to listen, learn, & share in rich history of the school & community, as well as dream and pray for what God has in store for the future of Adziwa Christian School.

The heart and goal of FOA is to help break generational poverty in the lives of thousands of children by providing education, health/nutrition, discipleship, and sustainability. It’s an ambitious goal, but the developed Master Plan for the school has the opportunity to become a self sustaining model for the country of Malawi and even the continent of Africa!

Even with all the visioning…our team had plenty of time for FUN!  Sitting in on classes real time, admiring the educational excellence, dedication of the staff, and bright minds of the students…along with playing and making friends outside of the classrooms, the team experienced throughout a true testimony of deep hope & joy.

Multiple teams have been sent to Malawi and will continue ahead— these include medical, Bible/music camps, support & service, to name a few.
